3 reasons why you should visit Pebble Hill Plantation

My love affair for Thomasville, Georgia runs pretty strong lately. Sometimes, I could seriously imagine myself living in this city because it has a small town feel that I love so much but this gem also has a thriving downtown and a ton of stores too!

On a free Saturday (which is as rare as a unicorn), I decided to make the most of it and head down to my one of my favorite local Thomasville attractions, Pebble Hill Plantation! This home and grounds is just a stunning example of Southern landscape and architecture and should definitely be on your must-visit list for South Georgia.

3 reasons why you should visit Pebble Hill Plantation

1. Oak trees with Spanish moss

One of the South’s most distinctive qualities is the looming large oak trees and Pebble Hill Plantation is not lacking in them. They also happen to be dripping in Spanish moss that adds a dreaminess to the photos. But beware of that stuff – it may be pretty and look innocent but Spanish moss tends to have redbugs or chiggers as they are also known lurking in it. Those little pest can bite you and be annoying in general and I have always heard you treat them by putting nail polish on them. I did it in the past but I honestly don’t remember the outcome. Just avoid the moss, particularly when it is on the ground, as much as possible is my suggestion.

2.Empty Grounds = Selfies without judgment

I have been to Pebble Hill twice and each time, it was practically empty in terms of visitors. That means that you can take as many selfies without judgment of anyone. And there are a ton of great spots for this! It was blazing hot day and I wore myself out walking back and forth between pressing the shutter and the front of the camera trying to get a photo with me in it because I forgot my camera remote. I had to rely on the 10-second delay timer and that was REAL fun.

3. Cheap entry fee!

Last but certainly not least, the entry fee is CHEAP! For $5.50, you get access to all of the 77 acres of grounds. That is a Starbucks latte for a chance to visit a gorgeous example of Southern architecture. If you are interested in doing a house tour, you must pay an additional $16.00 for a guided tour. But beware, no photography or video is allowed inside.

If you haven’t been to this Thomasville jewel, you need to go! I have already set up a return trip around Christmas with my mom.
