I’ve only been apple picking once before, but it was just as dreamy as you’d expect. The scent of fresh apples in the air, that crisp mountain breeze, picture-perfect views in every direction, and of course, a bag full of apples you picked yourself. I spent a gorgeous October morning at Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge, Georgia.
The moment you step out of the car, the smell of fresh fried apple pies hits you. That alone makes the trip worth it. Inside the main building, you’ll want to give yourself time to explore. There’s a restaurant, a bakery stocked with apple bread and pies, a tasting room, and rows of apple varieties. You’ll also find shelves full of apple-themed goodies and local products that make great souvenirs or gifts.
And whatever you do, don’t skip the apple cider slush. It’s one of the best things to sip on, even when the air is cool.

If you’re ready to plan your own apple-picking trip, here’s where to go:

Come along and enjoy a fall day the old-fashioned way—with boots on your feet, fresh apples in hand, and the mountains all around. Mercier Orchards is a fall experience you won’t forget.
