My love of Siena is never ending as you may can tell. In my mind, it is a place I have felt so comfortable living for just that short study abroad jaunt that I sometimes have dreams of leaving the US and heading back. Italy in general has this magnetism that cannot be explained. Have you ever daydreamed of roadtripping through Tuscany, lounging on the beach and swimming in the Mediterranean, or maybe meandering around the ruins of Rome? Have you ever wanted to go to
Rome
Pisa
Verona
Venice
Milan
Cinque Terra
Pienza
Val d’Orcia
Florence
…and so many more?
Basing yourself in Siena is the perfect solution for your Italian adventure because most of these gems are just a train ride away! I went all over the place in my tour of Italy while abroad for the month. Navigating the public transportation is super easy but beware of train strikes! But aside from those small hiccups, I sincerely love the ease of train travel. Also, consider renting a car and touring Tuscany. Sometimes, those days end up being some of the best of the whole trip. The freedom is just a completely wild feeling.
But no sweat – if you cannot travel Italy anytime soon for you own Italian adventure, spend your day looking at these lovely images and start picturing yourself there. It almost works.
Check out my top 10 favorite images from my tour of Italy and hopefully it convinces you that
Siena is the perfect base for your Italian adventure.
First up is Siena, obviously. Because look at it – its a stunner. A dime. And that is the extent hip slang.
Florence
Tuscan Countryside
Pienza
Val d’Orcia
Mauro Staccioli sculpture near Volterra
Cinque Terre
Verona
Venice
and my absolute favorite image from my Italy adventures is kinda of surprising since it is not a landscape image at all! Its a group of nonnas standing in the window. I love how so striking it is because I think the image literally tells the story about the neighborhood watch and the Italian culture in whole.
Which picture is your favorite? Have you been to any of these cities? Comment below!
