Glamping in an Airstream in the Southern California Desert

Have you been following along on my Southwest US roadtrip?

Last week, I got to visit the ever colorful and uber kitschy Salvation Mountain.

While researching for a place to stay near Palm Springs in California, I was casually browsing Airbnb and BAM – Wanda the Airstream was right before my eyes and my little hipster millennial heart could not pass her up! I immediately booked that baby. Have you ever imagined yourself glamping in an airstream in the Southern California Desert? Yea, me neither but Wandaland kinda made it an absolute necessity!

I am not a camping gal. I love me some hot running water, a bathroom, and some heater/AC – especially when one is out in the desert on a cold winter night. Wanda was the perfect solution to experience a kitschy California overnight stay but with a certain level of comfort.

Yes, the shower is small, the toilet is a compost toilet, and there isn’t a tv (who really watches tv when they travel???) but they have wifi and a heater and that’s all a girl needs! I wish I could have stayed a bit longer and used the fire pit out front. Roasting marshmallows in the California desert sounds like the perfect evening.

I arrived in the cloak of darkness in the rental car due to the lack of taking into account the time zone changes and daylight savings between Arizona and California, but I was still mesmerized. Time zone changes are for the birds! Although Wanda is parked in the owners’ front yard, it still had a feeling of isolation! I cannot recommend Wanda enough – but only for couples or the very best of friends who don’t mind sharing a bed. Although they have another spot for sleeping where the table is located, it was so very hard.

If you are looking for a kitschy overnight adventure, you should definitely look into this Airbnb so you can go glamping in an airstream in the Southern California Desert!

This bed was on another level of comfort. The down comforter was life and we never turned the heat on despite the 50-degree temps outside because it was THAT good. I need one of these in my life.

Also, a general warning about the Southwest US – beware of the cacti and all of their family members. They are not your friends. They are out for blood.

Aside from everything I have listed, one of the best parts about Wanda was the proximity to Joshua Tree National Park.

Have you ever going glamping in an airstream in the southern California desert? Or anywhere else?? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Sami

I’ve always wanted to stay in an airstream I think it was watching Grey’s Anatomy that first made me dream of it! Palm Springs, Joshua Tree… that whole area I’m desperate to go to!

The only way it could have been better if McDreamy was at the airstream. ❤️❤️❤️ That area is a must see! Just prepare for a LOT of desert without much in between!

This looks lush, I could happily live out my days in Wanda (at least at festivals anyway!) x
